Ira Zaslow Foundation's reDRESS/Holiday of Hope Fundraiser & Silent Auction
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
New York, NY
As a result of the toll Hurricane Sandy has taken on the east coast, below is an update for our supporters:
Last week, Hurricane Sandy devastated our neighborhoods and destroyed homes leaving many unsheltered and without necessities including electricity, food, gas, water, and clothing. In true New York fashion, we are all slowly rebuilding and getting back to as normal as possible; however, we are aware that entire communities are still struggling to pick up the pieces.
After careful consideration and thought, we’ve come to the conclusion that our fundraising event, scheduled to take place only a few days from today on Nov. 13, would serve best as a chance to support the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Therefore, we are expanding our event to include a new initiative: reDRESS2012. Our mission is to provide warm clothing to the children of families impacted by the storm.
In addition, the Ira Zaslow Foundation pledges to ensure we keep our promise of bringing presents, along with a visit from Santa Claus, to the students of P.S. 306 as scheduled on December 11.
What is reDRESS2012? By definition, redress means to remedy or to set right an undesirable or unfair situation.
We are accepting contributions including new or lightly used apparel, footwear, and accessories that will help these families make it through winter. We are also accepting monetary donations with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards the purchase of children's clothing.
Our goal is to target children, but we will also accept men's and/or women's donations. We are currently reaching out to local, state, and federal municipalities of the hardest hit areas to find families with children in need.
Thanks in advance for your continued support and generosity. We look forward to seeing you at Chelsea Manor and appreciate any help spreading the word!

The Ira Zaslow Foundation has been established in order to provide our children with a safe and encouraging environment in which to grow and play, to acknowledge children who excel in academics and sports, and to promote peace, fairness and understanding among all cultures in our community.
Ira Zaslow, an outstanding family man, dedicated colleague, and dear friend was a person who wanted his children, family, and friends to contribute to their community and exhibit the strong moral character he so greatly possessed. To honor him and carry on his special legacy, we have established the Ira Zaslow Foundation.
The primary goal of this Foundation will be to honor Ira Zaslow and all of the heroes and victims of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
Through generous support and donations, the Foundation plans to help build memorials, provide crisis counseling for victims, implement an academic scholarship in Ira Zaslow’s name, and execute several other cause-related projects in the weeks, months and years to come.
